Farm murders are unacceptable from every perspective. Some are related
to crime but others are clearly connected to wage disputes and working
conditions, which highlight the need for government to take a stand on
farm labour standards.
While the facts in the recent murder of
AWB leader Eugene Terre’blanche are still under investigation,
parliament should review the working conditions for labourers on farms
across the country.
